The WAASA Student Leaders program has two phases as it brings together young people from across WAASA schools.
The first event occurs in Term 4 each year when prospective or newly appointed Year 11 Student Leaders gather at Wollaston with the Archbishop and other mentors. Here they spend a day exploring aspects of servant leadership, especially those related to leadership within an Anglican school.
In the middle of the following year, many of the same group reconvene in the Archbishop’s House at her invitation to reflect on what leadership has been like to that point in Year 12, and to consider how they may continue to exercise Christian leadership through whatever field they may pursue.
Many Year 11 and Year 12 student leaders within WAASA schools have previously been Anglicare Ambassadors whilst in Year 10 – champions within their schools for Anglicare WA. As Ambassadors they work to help support Anglicare’s ‘Street Connect’ project, particularly through the annual Sleepout which has been held at Optus Stadium during August.
